Phoksundo Lake is a stunning high-altitude alpine lake that lies at an elevation of 3,589 meters above sea level in the Dolpa district of Nepal. This lake covers an area of 4.94 square kilometers with a shoreline that stretches for 18.3 kilometers. It is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful and pristine freshwater lakes in the country and is situated within the Shey Phoksundo National Park, a protected area known for its unique biodiversity and cultural significance.
This lake has earned its reputation for its majestic natural beauty. With its crystal-clear water, it is encompassed by steep cliffs, snow-capped peaks, and lush green forests, all of which combine to create a picturesque destination that captivates trekkers and nature enthusiasts alike.
The trek to Phoksundo Lake typically commences in Juphal and usually takes between 9 to 11 days to complete, depending on the chosen itinerary or the pace of the trekkers. On the first day of the journey, you’ll board a flight to Nepalgunj, and on the following day, another flight will take you to Juphal, from where you will begin your trek to Dunai.
