The Chandragiri hike is known as one of the best around Kathmandu Valley, offering amazing views of the landscape and mountains. It starts from Machhegaun and goes to Chhapbhanjyang.

Hike Information:

Hike Duration: 6-7 hours

Difficult: Moderate

Max elevation: 2552m (Chandragiri hill)

Beginning at Machhegaun, the first part of the hike is a steep climb, taking about two hours. But don't worry, the trail is well-made like a staircase with carefully placed stones. Machhegaun is a hub connecting Champadevi, Chandragiri, and itself. You can also take an alternative hike from Machhegaun to Champadevi, called the Pharping-Champadevi Hike.

From Chhapbhanjyang, it takes around one and a half hours to reach Chandragiri hill at the elevation of 2552m above the sea level. Once you're at Chandragiri, you get stunning panoramic views of mountains from the west to the east. You'll see peaks like Mt. Api, Saipal, Everest, Makalu, Kanchanjunga, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Langtang Himal, Dorje Lakpa, and Gaurishankar. At Chandragiri, there's also the Bhaleshwar Mahadev Temple where you can offer worship. After observing the beautiful scenery and spending some time at Chandragiri Hill, the journey continues as you descend towards Nagdhunga. The entire hiking experience usually takes about 6 to 7 hours.
