Annapurna Base camp Trek, also known as Annapurna sanctuary trek, is one of the most popular treks in Nepal. Lying 40km directly north of Pokhara, The Annapurna Sanctuary is a high glacial basin. The oval-shaped plateau is at an altitude of 4130m and surrounded by Annapurna range mountains, most of which are over 7000m’s including the 10th highest mountain in the world: Annapurna I (8091m). 

Annapurna Base camp trek is one of the short trek which can easily be completed in 7-9 days. The Trip can be started from Kathmandu or Pokhara. Pokhara is located 200kms west of Kathmandu. It is also gate way to Annapurna Region. The first day of the trip will be 7 or 8 hrs drive to Pokhara. There is alternate of 30 mins Flight too. The overall total trekking distance is 114kms starting from Nayapul through Ghandru, Komrong, Chhomrong, Sinuwa, Bamboo, Dovan, Himalaya, Deurali, Machhapuchre Base camp and Annapurna Base camp and Back.    It's an absolute opportunity to observe Gurung culture and tradition while walking through these villages. As the trek is located inside Annapurna Conservation Area project, the trek is rich in Flora and fauna too along with the local culture and traditions.

From Annapurna Base Camp one can enjoy 360 degree panoramic view of Annapurna South (7219m), Hiunchuli (6441m), Annapurna fang (7647m), Annapurna I (8091m: 10th highest mountain in the world), Tharpu chuli (5695m), Singu chuli (6501m), Annapurna III (7555m), Mt. Machhapuchre (6993m) and Gandharba chuli (6248m).

Itineraries

Day 1

Arrival in Nepal, Transfer to Hotel

Upon your arrival at the Kathmandu airport, you will be greeted by our representative. After completing your custom formalities (Visa, etc), pick up your luggage and look for our representative with the Altitude Trails & Adventures display board at the arrival gate. You will be then transferred to your hotel, nearby Thamel as per your requirement. Thamel has great food from all over the world, fabulous shopping and Durbar square with its several temples and markets are nearby Thamel. Overnight at the hotel

Day 2

Trip preparation and meeting with guide

After breakfast, We will have a briefing session about the trip. Our guide will describe the trek, geographic structure, custom and traditions and about the daily events: trek duration, attractions and share other information. We will also assist you with the trekking gears and help you navigate around stores in Thamel to get them. After the preparation, we will do a little sightseeing around Kathmandu Durbar square and Thamel. If time permits, we will visit Pashupatinath temple to see aarti.

Day 3

Drive to Pokhara, (200kms, 7 hrs)

There are two ways to reach Pokhara from Kathmandu: one by air and the other by road. If you choose the road option, it is 200 kms and takes around 7-8 hours to travel from Kathmandu to reach Pokhara. On the way you will pass through Malekhu, Mailung, Bimal Nagar, etc. Along the way, you can enjoy the view of the fast-flowing Trisuli River. Another option is to travel by air, which will save time. The flight from Tribhuvan International Airport to Pokhara Airport takes approximately 30 minutes.

Day 4

Drive to Nayapul (2hrs), Trek to Ghandruk (2012m, 5hrs)

After having our breakfast, we will drive from Pokhara to Nayapul, which is approximately 41 kms and will take approx. one and half hours. Starting from Nayapul, we embark on our trek along the Modi Khola, passing through beautiful villages such as Birethanti and Syauli Bazar to ghandruk. These villages are mainly inhabited by Gurung, Tamang, and Magar communities. After 6 hours, we will reach Ghandruk village, which is mostly inhabited by Gurung people. Ghandruk village offers us the best views of Annapurna South, Annapurna III, Hiunchuli, and Machapuchare.

Day 5

Trek to Sinuwa (2100m, 6hrs)

Today, we began our trek after having breakfast. Our trek today will be approximately 6 hours. After Ghandruk, we will pass through Komrong hill and descend nearly 480m towards the Kimrong river, cross the bridge, Enjoy lunch and ascend 465m towards Chhomrong village.Throughout the trek, we will enjoy the sights of Rhododendron and oak forest, Mountain view and Small villages. At Chhomrong we will register our trek entry on ACAP again and descend 180m towards Chhomrong river. Annapurna south, Hiunchuli and Machhapuchhre stand right in front of Chhomrong village. After crossing the river we again ascend 70m towards our accommodating teahouse at Lower Sinuwa.

Day 6

Trek to Deurali (3100m, 6hrs)

After our breakfast, we commence our trek towards Deurali (3100m), a journey that is estimated to last around 6-7 hours. This trail passes through upper Sinuwa, Bamboo, Dovan and Himalaya. There are numerous tea houses only in these settlements. Starting from lower Sinuwa, first we will ascend to upper Sinuwa which is at an elevation of 2450m and descend a lengthy staircase to reach Bamboo at 2300m above sea level. Progressing from Bamboo, we continue along a predominantly uphill path that traverses through bamboo and rhododendron forests towards Dovan (2500m), Himalaya (2850m) and reach Deurali (3180m). After himalaya we will pass through Hinku cave and numerous waterfalls.

Day 7

Trek to Annapurna Base camp (4130m, 4hrs)

On this day, we trek to the highest elevation of the trek which is Annapurna base camp at the elevation of 4130m. The duration of the trek is only 4 hours to reach ABC. We have to traverse nearly 500m through the avalanche prone area after Deurali. During winter the route is risky and dangerous. The route is quite easier compared to previous days. We will pass through Machhapuchhre Base camp and enter the Annapurna Sanctuary which is surrounded by Annapurna Mountain ranges. We will get to see the 360 view from 6000m to 8091m. Including Annapurna I, the 10th highest mountain in the world along with Mt. Machhapuchhre, Annapurna south, Hiunchuli, Gandharva chuli, singha chuli, Annapurna III and Gangapurna. During Autumn, the trail from Machhapuchhre to Annapurna Base camp is full of wildflowers.

Day 8

Trek to Sinuwa (2100m, 7 hrs)

Today we will wake up early in the morning to watch the sunrise. All the mountains will turn into orange color during the sunrise and sunset time. After enjoying the majestic view we will have our breakfast and start our trek back to Sinuwa. Following the same route and walking through the rhododendron forest along Modi Khola, it takes around 7 hours to reach Sinuwa. It's an easy trek passing through the pleasant forest of Bamboo, we can also see some glimpse of monkey, langur.

Day 10

Rest day in Pokhara

Pokhara is one of the popular cities in Nepal. Despite being at an altitude of 800m, The mountains are only 20 kms air distance from here, and the city offers an amazing view of the Annapurna mountain range. There are many places for sightseeing and the city is a hub for different adventure activities. The Phewa Lakeside is also popular for the Night life. There are many pubs, bars, clubs, restaurants and hotels. As we have just completed the treacherous trek, we can rest the whole day and go out to experience the nightlife or you can opt out for sightseeing or participate in adventure activities like Paragliding, zip line, Bungy, Hikes or others.

Day 11

Drive to Kathmandu (200kms, 7/8hrs)

Early in the morning after having our breakfast we will drive back to kathmandu leaving behind all the annapurna range mountains but carrying the beautiful memories of the trek. It will take around 7/8 hours to drive to reach kathmandu.

Day 12

Leisure/ Departure, Transfer to Airport.

If you have an Extra day and want to travel to more places in Nepal, we will assist to entertain your further stay. Or If you have a departing flight from Nepal, Our team will accompany you to the airport.
