Poon Hill trek is a short and relatively easy trek into the Annapurna region. This trek is suitable for those who do not have much time to spend with a burning desire to observe the beauty of snow-capped mountains. Itineraries
Day 1
Arrival in Nepal, Transfer to Hotel
Upon your arrival at the Kathmandu airport, you will be greeted by our representative. After completing your custom formalities (Visa, etc), pick up your luggage and look for our representative with the Altitude Trails & Adventures display board at the arrival gate. You will be then transferred to your hotel, nearby Thamel as per your requirement. Thamel has great food from all over the world, fabulous shopping and Durbar square with its several temples and markets are nearby Thamel. Overnight at the hotel
Day 2
Trip preparation and meeting with guide
After breakfast, We will have a briefing session about the trip. Our guide will describe the trek, geographic structure, custom and traditions and about the daily events: trek duration, attractions and share other information. We will also assist you with the trekking gears and help you navigate around stores in Thamel to get them. After the preparation, we will do a little sightseeing around Kathmandu Durbar square and Thamel. If time permits, we will visit Pashupatinath temple to see aarti.
Day 3
Drive to Pokhara (7-8hrs)
There are two ways to reach Pokhara from Kathmandu: one by air and the other by road. If you choose the road option, it is 200 kms and takes around 7-8 hours to travel from Kathmandu to reach Pokhara. On the way you will pass through Malekhu, Mailung, Bimal Nagar, etc. Along the way, you can enjoy the view of the fast-flowing Trisuli River. Another option is to travel by air, which will save time. The flight from Tribhuvan International Airport to Pokhara Airport takes approximately 30 minutes.
Day 4
Drive to Tikhey dhunga(3 hrs) , Trek to ulleri (2055m, 3hrs)
On this day, after enjoying our breakfast, we will embark on a 3-hour drive to Tikhedhunga. Upon reaching Tikhedhunga, we will take a brief break and commence our trek to Ulleri, which is situated at an elevation of 2055 meters. The trail begins by crossing the suspension bridge near Tikhedhunga. The trek to Ulleri is characterized by navigating over 3000 steps on a steep stone staircase.
Day 5
Trek to Ghorepani (2874m, 6hrs)
In the early morning, following a nourishing breakfast, we will proceed with our trek towards Ghorepani, situated at an elevation of 2874 meters. This leg of the journey is expected to span approximately 6 hours. The trail leading to Ghorepani meanders through verdant forests adorned with oak, pine, juniper, and rhododendron trees. After a trek lasting around 6 hours, we will arrive at our destination, Ghorepani. In the event of favorable weather conditions, there is the potential to witness the awe-inspiring vistas of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Nilgiri, Annapurna South, and a plethora of other majestic peaks.
Day 6
Visit Poonhill (3200m, 2hrs), Trek to Tadapani (2630m, 6hrs)
Today, we will begin our hike early in the morning to witness the sunrise over the mountains from Poonhill, which is situated at an elevation of 3210m. This vantage point offers a majestic view of the sunrise over the Annapurna range and Mt. Dhaulagiri. From the summit of Poonhill, we can capture breathtaking vistas of Mt. Annapurna I (8091 m), Annapurna South (7219 m), Annapurna III (7855 m), Machhapuchhare (6993 m), Dhaulagiri (8167 m), Tukuche Peak (6920 m), and Nilgiri (6940 m).
Upon our return to Ghorepani, we will have breakfast and then commence our trek to Tadapani at the elevation of 2630m, which will take around 6 hours. The trail to Tadapani starts with the steep climb until we cross Deurali pass through dense forest of Pine Rhododendron, Pine and Oak. From Deurali, the trail goes up and down. Before reaching Tadapani, we have to climb up for one hour until you reach Tadapani, where we stay overnight.
Day 7
Trek to Ghandruk (1939m, 6hrs)
On the 7th day of the trek we will trek from tadapani to Ghandruk which will take around 5 hours. We start our hike after having our breakfast. The trail to Ghandruk is mostly downhill so trekkers should be careful of some parts of the trail that are steep and slippery. The trail takes us through the lush forest of Rhododendron, Pine and oak. After reaching Ghandruk village, we will take some break and start to explore this beautiful gurung village. Experience local culture and their day to day life activities. Ghandruk also offers contrasting mountain views.
Day 8
Drive to Pokhara (800m, 5hrs)
Finally, today marks the conclusion of the Ghorepani-Poonhill Trek. We will embark on a 5-hour-long drive to Pokhara, passing through key points along the way, including Syauli Bazaar, Birethanti, Nayapul, and ultimately arriving in Pokhara. Upon our arrival in Pokhara, we will take a break and explore the captivating beauty of the city.
Day 9
Drive to Kathmandu (7-8hrs)
Early in the morning after having our breakfast we will drive back to kathmandu leaving behind all the annapurna range mountains but carrying the beautiful memories of the trek. It will take around 7/8 hours to drive to reach kathmandu.
Day 10
Leisure/ Departure, Transfer to airport
If you have an Extra day and want to travel to more places in Nepal, we will assist to entertain your further stay. Or If you have a departing flight from Nepal, Our team will accompany you to the airport.
