Khopra danda trek is a less crowded, less explored and off the beaten trail in the Annapurna region. This trek offers a stunning view of Mt.Annapurna south, Mt. Hiunchuli, Mt. Dhaulagiri and many other peaks. At an elevation of 3640m, the trek to Khopra danda is considered as a moderate difficulty trek  which is suitable for both beginners and experienced trekkers. This trek is perfect for those people who are looking for the shorter alternative to the classic trek which offers a mountain panoramic and its culture. As well as the amazing sunrise and sunset views from the khopra danda. From the khopra danda it’s a day hike to khayer lake (4620m). It is the holy lake situated on the lap of Annapurna south.

The trek to Khopra danda is an adventurous trek that takes 8 to 10 days, depending on the itinerary and acclimatization needs. This trek passes through several traditional villages colonized by ethnic groups such as Gurungs and Magars. Which makes an offer to the trekker to explore and experience the local culture.

To trek khopra danda people can take a day drive from Pokhara to Ghorepani which will take around 6 hours. The main trekking trail for khopra danda starts from Ghorepani(2874m). The average walking duration for a day is likely 6 hrs/day. On the 4th day of the trek we reach khopra danda and the other day we can visit khayer lake, a holy lake where once a year festival takes place around august. And many pilgrims come to dip in this sacred lake. After exploring the hidden areas of Annapurna, we will join the main trails of Annapurna to reach Ghandruk. Ghandruk is a traditional Gurung village. It has the best view of Annapurna south, Annapurna III , Hiunchuli and Machapokhari.

Itineraries

Day 1

Arrival in Nepal, Transfer to Hotel

Upon your arrival at the Kathmandu airport, you will be greeted by our representative. After completing your custom formalities (Visa, etc), pick up your luggage and look for our representative with the Altitude Trails & Adventures display board at the arrival gate. You will be then transferred to your hotel, nearby Thamel as per your requirement. Thamel has great food from all over the world, fabulous shopping and Durbar square with its several temples and markets are nearby Thamel. Overnight at the hotel

Day 2

Trip preparation, Meeting with guide

After breakfast, We will have a briefing session about the trip. Our guide will describe the trek, geographic structure, custom and traditions and about the daily events: trek duration, attractions and share other information. We will also assist you with the trekking gears and help you navigate around stores in Thamel to get them. After the preparation, we will do a little sightseeing around Kathmandu Durbar square and Thamel. If time permits, we will visit Pashupatinath temple to see aarti.

Day 3

Drive to Pokhara (200 kms, 6/7 hrs)

There are two ways to reach Pokhara from Kathmandu: one by air and the other by road. If you choose the road option, it is 200 kms and takes around 7-8 hours to travel from Kathmandu to reach Pokhara. On the way you will pass through Malekhu, Mailung, Bimal Nagar, etc. Along the way, you can enjoy the view of the fast-flowing Trisuli River. Another option is to travel by air, which will save time. The flight from Tribhuvan International Airport to Pokhara Airport takes approximately 30 minutes.

Day 4

Drive to ulleri(4hrs) , Trek to Ghorepani (3100m, 5hrs)

After having our breakfast, we will continue our drive to Ulleri, which will take around 4 hours of a scenic jeep ride. On the way to Ulleri, you may see the Annapurna range, Machapuchare (Fishtail), and Annapurna II. After reaching Ulleri, we will take some rest and then start our trek to Ghorepani at an elevation of 2874m, which will take around 5 hours. The trail to Ghorepani goes through lush forests of oak, pine, juniper, and rhododendron. After hiking for approximately 5 hours, we will reach Ghorepani. If the weather is good, we may be able to see Mt. Dhaulagiri, Mt. Nilgiri, Annapurna South, and many other mountains

Day 5

Morning hike to Poonhill (3210m), Trek to Upper Chisti bang (3026m, 6hrs)

Today, we will begin our hike early in the morning to witness the sunrise over the mountains from Poonhill, which is situated at an elevation of 3210m. This vantage point offers a majestic view of the sunrise over the Annapurna range and Mt. Dhaulagiri. From the summit of Poonhill, we can capture breathtaking vistas of Mt. Annapurna I (8091 m), Annapurna South (7219 m), Annapurna III (7855 m), Machhapuchhare (6993 m), Dhaulagiri (8167 m), Tukuche Peak (6920 m), and Nilgiri (6940 m).
Upon our return to Ghorepani, we will have breakfast and then commence our trek to Upper Chistibang at an elevation of 3026m, which is estimated to take approximately 6 hours. The trail descends through a mixed forest of rhododendron, oak, and pine. After trekking for 6 hours, we will reach Upper Chistibang village, where we will spend the night.

Day 6

Trek to Khopra danda (3640m, 6hrs)

After having our warm breakfast, we will continue our trek to Khopra Danda at an elevation of 3640 meters, which will take around 5 hours. We will follow our trail through a forest of Rhododendron, Oak, and Pine. Along the way, we will frequently encounter yaks, goats, and sheep grazing in the alpine meadows. As we ascend slowly, we will be rewarded with the majestic views of the Annapurna range, Dhaulagiri range, Nilgiri, and Machhapuchhre. Finally, we will reach Khopra Danda, which offers a breathtaking 360-degree view of the great Himalayas. We will stay overnight here.

Day 7

Visit Khayer lake(4660m,4hrs), overnight at Khopra danda

Today we start our hike early in the morning to Khayera lake at the elevation of 4650m, which will take around 7 hours. The trail will take us through alpine meadows and rocky terrain. The trails offer stunning views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range. The trail is frequently uphill. After we reach khayer lake we take some time to rest and appreciate the natural beauty of the lake and the surrounding mountains. After spending some time at Khayer lake we will get back to Khopra danda where we stay overnight.

Day 8

Trek to Tatopani (1250m, 6hrs)

On our 8th day of Khopra danda trek, we will descend from khopra danda to Tatopani which will take around 6 hours. The trail take us through the forest of rhododendron and alpine meadows. On the we we can see stunning views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri range. The trail is frequently down hill. After hiking for 6 hours we will reach Tatopani, we will enjoy the amazing natural hot spa. All our body ache and soring leg, will feel relaxed.

Day 9

Drive to Pokhara (4hrs)

After having our breakfast, we will embark on a scenic drive back to Pokhara, which is estimated to take approximately 4 hours. The condition of the road until Beni is characterized by bumps and adventurous twists, while beyond Beni, we can expect a smoother road. After reaching Pokhara, we will explore some places.

Day 10

Day 10: Rest day in Pokhara

Pokhara is one of the popular cities in Nepal. Despite being at an altitude of 800m, The mountains are only 20 kms air distance from here, and the city offers an amazing view of the Annapurna mountain range. There are many places for sightseeing and the city is a hub for different adventure activities. The Phewa Lakeside is also popular for the Night life. There are many pubs, bars, clubs, restaurants and hotels. As we have just completed the treacherous trek, we can rest the whole day and go out to experience the nightlife or you can opt out for sightseeing or participate in adventure activities like Paragliding, zip line, Bungy, Hikes or others.

Day 11

Drive to Kathmandu (200kms, 7/8 hrs)

Early in the morning after having our breakfast we will drive back to kathmandu leaving behind all the annapurna range mountains but carrying the beautiful memories of the trek. It will take around 7/8 hours to drive to reach kathmandu.

Day 12

Leisure/ Departure, Transfer to Airport

If you have an Extra day and want to travel to more places in Nepal, we will assist to entertain your further stay. Or If you have a departing flight from Nepal, Our team will accompany you to the airport.
