Nagarkot hike is one of the easiest hiking route inside Kathmandu valley. The total hiking distance is approx. 15kms. The hike starts from ancient temple of Changu Narayan and ends at Nagarkot. In between, the trail passes through Trishul danda, telkot, Muhan pokhari and Kalamashi dam (also called as Bojine dam). Â

After approx. 1hrs 30 minutes drive from kathmandu, we will reach Changu Narayan temple. It is located in Bhaktapur District, Changu Narayan temple is one of the oldest temple in Nepal. It is one of the UNESCO heritage sites in Kathmandu. It is one of the Lord Vishnu temple (Narayan) in Nepal and visited by large number of devotees. The temple is believed to date back to the 464 C.E. The temple is built in pagoda style. King Mandev (From licchavi dynasty) buit this temple.Â
After having a short sightseeing, we start our hike and the trail will lead towards Telkot. While hiking towards Telkot, we will get to observe the bhaktapur city in the south and Sankhu at the North. The beautiful paddy fields will make you stand and stall for a while. If the weather is clear, Phurbu gyachu (a mountain of jugal range) will be seen on the north.Â
After telkot, the trail will split and we will hike towards muhan pokhari. There are three water falls and it is one of the source of drinking water in Bhaktapur. After telkot, the trails will be uphill walk all the way up-to Nagarkot via bageshowri forest. We will take a break in between to observe the artificial dam. The dam is called Kalamasi/ Bojini dam.Â
After Nagarkot view tower, We will hike downhill towards the main Nagarkot junction, Have Lunch and Drive back to Kathmandu.Â
